Why your Reels aren't getting views

The common mistakes that kill reach, and the simple changes that make your platforms grow.

Most Reels don't underperform because of the algorithm. They underperform because they were made for the algorithm: chasing trends, copying formats, and polishing away everything human. Audiences can spot inauthentic content instantly. What they remember are the brands that feel real, consistent, and human. The fix is not a hack. It is intention.

You are posting for algorithms, not people

When you focus only on reach, you forget who you are speaking to. The best content does not chase trends, it speaks directly to real people. Every caption, photo, and video should feel like a genuine conversation, not a broadcast. If a Reel would make no sense coming out of a person's mouth, it should not come out of your brand's either.

You sound like everyone else

If your content feels interchangeable, it gets scrolled past. Authenticity comes from voice: your way of speaking, your values, your quirks. Stop polishing everything to sound corporate. Clarity and honesty create connection, not overproduction.

Your visuals don't match your message

If your visuals and words do not align, your audience will not know what to believe. Authentic brands keep their tone and aesthetic consistent across every touchpoint. People trust what feels cohesive and familiar, and the trust shows up in watch time.

You are hiding behind perfection

Perfection kills connection. You do not need flawless videos or perfect lighting to be trusted, you need honesty. Share the process, not just the result. Let people see the work, the story, the humans behind the brand. That is what makes a presence memorable.

What to fix this week

  • Rewatch your last five Reels and ask one question: would a person say this to another person?
  • Pick one voice and one look, then hold them across every post.
  • Show one behind the scenes moment for every polished piece.
  • Cut anything that exists only to keep the feed alive.

Authenticity compounds

Each honest post deepens connection. Each real story strengthens loyalty. Over time, authenticity compounds into something algorithms cannot fake: trust. Trends will change, but the brands that last are not the loudest. They are the most real. Keep showing up, stay true to your voice, and let consistency do the heavy lifting.
